My daughter grew. So did ORTOTO.

ORTOTO founder Diana with her daughters on sensory mats at home

Floors at home are flat, warm and clean. Exactly the kind we wish for our children. But when my daughter took her first steps, I noticed a simple detail that changed everything. All day long, her little feet never meet any other surface. No dewy grass, no loose sand, no river pebbles.

From this quiet observation came the idea that grew into ORTOTO. Today my daughter and the brand are growing side by side, and I invite you to get to know our story anew.

I am Diana, the founder of ORTOTO. For me, this brand has never been only about things or manufacturing. It is inseparable from motherhood. My daughter’s arrival was the beginning, and her steps still show the way for ORTOTO.

Watching a child grow means learning to see the world anew every day. What an adult eye stopped noticing long ago is a first discovery for a little one. An unexpected colour, a rougher or softer surface, a new movement or a game made up on the spot. Without noticing, we start to see the everyday corners of our home differently too.

This unstaged curiosity stays with me every time I create something. I want each product to speak for itself and invite you to touch it with your fingers, step on it barefoot, join the pieces or invent your own rules that nobody has heard before.

From a cosy living room to meeting you

The idea, born in our living room at home, travelled last year to Nuremberg, to the Spielwarenmesse fair. It is the largest toy and games fair in the world. Thousands of makers from all over the world, and among them our stand with sensory mats, which we could finally present in person.

As a maker, I value meetings like these. They are a chance to be together, to hear your questions and to see what truly fits your family’s everyday life. Behind every product there are long months of development and testing, but it only becomes real once it is in your home.

If you already know ORTOTO, it is good to see you again. And if this is your first visit, welcome.

My daughter grows. So does ORTOTO.

Sensory finger labyrinth. Along the spiral to the centre and back.

As a child grows taller, their games, interests and challenges change. And the world of ORTOTO naturally grows along with them.

Today it includes not only sensory mats with nature-inspired textures, but also building pieces, finger labyrinths and hand and foot coordination games. Each one opens up a different experience. One invites you to explore barefoot, another to build and knock down, a third to focus and find the path with your fingertips.

The labyrinth in the photo is one of those games children come back to again and again. A small finger travels along the spiral all the way to the centre and back, and sometimes races with mum to see whose hand reaches the finish first.

The moment I treasure most is when a child discovers their own way to play. When separate pieces become an unexpected fortress, the mats turn into stepping stones across an imaginary river, and dad or mum sits down barefoot on the floor next to the child.

Together again

With this post we begin a new, more open chapter in how we talk with you. Here we will share the stories behind our products, ideas for games and what we ourselves discover as we create and grow.

I want you to find here not only things, but also the people who make them. That is why I started at the very beginning, with my daughter, whose first steps inspired this journey.

She grows. And ORTOTO grows with her.

I invite you to grow, discover and play together with us.
